INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Some residents are fighting former Indiana University and NBA player Alan Henderson's plans for building a new house in a neighborhood on the north side of Indianapolis.
Henderson needs special permission to build his planned house of nearly 12,500 square feet because it would leave less open space than required on the 1.5-acre lot.
Nora Northside Community Council president Ruth Hayes tells The Indianapolis Star that the group wants Henderson to redesign the house to better fit the lot or buy a larger site.
The newspaper reports Henderson's attorney declined to comment. A city zoning board has scheduled a hearing for Dec. 11.
Henderson grew up in Indianapolis. He played 12 seasons in the NBA after being a first-round draft pick out of IU in 1995.
