TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - In a press conference, Terre Haute police and Indiana State University Police revealed the details of their investigation so far.

They say around 2:52 Friday morning shots were fired in a parking lot across the from the Ballyhoo tavern on 9th and Chestunut streets.

Police believe the shooting was the result of an argument that began in the bar but ended tragically when William Mallory, 21 of Indianapolis opened fire on three Terre Haute men. Mallory's shot struck Dante Pettus age 21 of Terre Haute, Terrance Trotter also 21 of Terre Haute and Dustin Kelly age 24 of Terre Haute.

All three were transported to local hospitals, but Dustin Kelly did not survive the gun shot wounds he sustained, and was pronounced dead earlier Friday morning.

The suspected shooter, William Mallory, was arrested by police in Indianapolis several hours ago and is being transported back to our area this afternoon.

Check back with WTHITV.com soon, as we will have the entire press conference posted.
