TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana ranks third in the nation for meth lab seizures, and Illinois ranks sixth.
While a lab seizure shows police doing their jobs and protecting the community, the cleanups come at a price of roughly $1,500.
Each seizure takes no less than two highly trained officers as many as four hours to complete.
After the hazardous material is removed, the Health Department tags the location as unfit for living until proper clean up is completed.
However, this is standard procedure only for homes, not barns, sheds and shelters.
