BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - An Indiana University student is one of three Americans arrested during protests in Cairo's Tahrir Square.

Bill Gates of Bloomington tells The Associated Press that his 21-year-old son Luke Gates is among the students from the American University of Cairo who were arrested outside the university's campus Monday night.

Gates says his son is a junior in a foreign studies program at Indiana University and has been in Egypt since August. He is studying political science and Arabic.

Gates says he has been in contact with the U.S. Embassy in Cairo but has little information other than that his son is being processed through the Egyptian legal system. He says he doesn't know what to expect.

Dozens have died in the latest wave of violence and protests across Egypt.
