INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The number of flu-related deaths in Indiana has climbed to 56, Indiana State Department of Health officials announced Friday.
Health officials said there are a few months of flu season remaining, and people are still urged to get the flu vaccine if they haven’t.
Despite the increase in deaths, Marion County saw a decrease in emergency room visits related to the flu in the past three weeks.
People at the greatest risk of complications from the influenza virus are pregnant women, young children, the elderly and anyone with a compromised immune system.
