CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) - Northwestern Indiana police say an elderly man who went outside to burn debris in his yard died after the flames ignited a brush fire.
Eighty-six-year-old Charles L. Green told his two sons who live with him Sunday that he was going outside to burn debris and went to his property's east side to do the burning.
Lakes of the Four Seasons Fire Force Chief Graham Federico tells The Times of Munster that a motorist along U.S. 231 reported a brush fire about 2 p.m.
The county coroner's office says Green had burns to his body but the exact cause of his death is pending autopsy results. Green was pronounced dead at the scene.
