INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Many are wondering how a 10-year-old could survive outside, in the cold for two days.

Police still don’t know how 10-year-old Tatyana Staten survived the bitter cold after running away from her home in the 4300 block of Elizabeth Street Friday.

But 24-Hour-News 8 has learned about a series of disturbing events leading up to the 10-year-old's disappearance.

In November, IMPD and child protective services responded to her home for an incident involving a 10-year-old.

The day before she went missing, Staten was suspended from school for stealing food from the teacher's lounge.

Thursday, the young girl spent the afternoon with a forensic interviewer who works with children who are victims of crime.

24-Hour-News 8 contacted the child’s family. They declined to comment for the story.

Police located Stated Sunday morning at a Kroger near 46th and Shadeland.
