EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say three Evansville police officers were hurt when two squad cars collided while responding a reported shooting.
City police Sgt. Jason Cullum says both cars had their lights and sirens operating when the crash happened Monday night at a downtown intersection.
The Evansville Courier & Press reports the three officers were being evaluated at a hospital for concussion-like symptoms. The crash caused heavy front-end damage to one squad car, which was spun around facing the wrong way in traffic. The other car was knocked into the grass with its passenger-side door caved in.
WFIE-TV reports witnesses say a stop sign for one of the streets was damaged and was lying on the ground before the crash.
