WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A Monticello woman landed herself behind bars after attempting to smuggle a controlled substance to a jail inmate.
Twenty-seven-year-old Sarah A. Davis has been charged with trafficking with an inmate, a class C felony.
According to court documents, a White County Prosecutor’s Office official overheard suspicious plans between Davis and White County Jail inmate Jason A. Creque.
The detective was listening to a recorded phone call between Creque and Davis on Feb. 27. During the course of the conversation, the detective heard Davis tell Creque that she was going to send him a card with something in it.
The detective says they also talked about Creque taking some “strips” before going to jail.
After hearing the conversation, the detective notified the county jail commander, who discovered a card that was addressed to Jason Creque. The card had two strips of “Suboxone” taped to it.
Suboxone is a schedule-III controlled substance used to treat opiate addiction and when taken, it acts as a pain suppressant.
Court documents say Creque admitted to investigators that he had had the conversation with Davis over the phone about Suboxone, and that he remembered her saying she was going to send him something.
Davis is now in the White County Jail.
