West Lafayette teen arrested

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A West Lafayette teen faces two charges of sexual conduct with a minor.

According to court documents, 18-year-old Erick Silva was arrested yesterday after an investigation of an alleged rape in a West Lafayette home.

Silva is accused of having sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the girl's mother said Silva befriended the girl on the social networking site MySpace.

According to a police interview with the victim, the girl said she was visiting a friend's house earlier this month when Silva allegedly dragged her into a room, locked the door and raped her.

Silva admitted Tuesday to having consensual sex with the girl but said he did not rape her, according to court documents.

He was subsequently arrested and brought to the Tippecanoe County jail.

According to court documents, police also interviewed a friend of the girl, who said she believed the sex was consensual.
