Village Pantry robbery suspect arrested

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette police arrested Joshua Phillip Smith, 18, Thursday for the armed robbery at the Village Pantry Wednesday night.
Police say it happened at the VP at 601 Union St. around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday. They believe Smith entered the store, showed a handgun and demanded money from the register, getting away with an undisclosed amount of money.
Smith faces preliminary charges of armed robbery, resisting law enforcement, battery on law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia.
