PERU, Ind. (AP) - A former Indiana man arrested in Mississippi last year for the 1992 slaying of a Kokomo woman is facing a September trial in her killing.
A Miami County judge last week set a Sept. 9 trial date for 53-year-old Timothy J. Jimerson. He was arrested by Indiana State Police in October after a DNA match led detectives to his D'Iberville, Miss., home.
The Kokomo Tribune reports Jimerson is charged with murder in the strangulation death of 27-year-old Toni Spicer, whose body was found by her two children, then aged 9 and 7, and a friend at her mobile home in August 1992.
Routine DNA analysis wasn't available at the time of Spicer's death. But a DNA match consistent with Jimerson was found through the National DNA Database.
