JASPER COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A traffic stop Thursday afternoon in Jasper County nets more than $315,000 in cash.

Indiana State Police said a vehicle was pulled over for traffic violations on I-65, just south of the DeMotte exit. Further investigation led the trooper to become suspicious of possible drug activity.

A K-9 was brought in and officers searched the vehicle. ISP said they found a large amount of money in three suitcases, totaling more than $315,000.

Troopers said one of the men in the car said the money was from "side jobs." However, they had not claimed it on taxes.

30-year-old Charles Allen of Emeryville, California and 26-year-old Sivon Smith of San Francisco were arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail on a preliminary charge of money laundering.
