LADOGA, Ind. (WLFI) - Detectives with Indiana State Police continue to follow up on leads regarding the death of a former county commissioner in Montgomery County.
94-year-old Samuel Kessler was found dead in his home last Saturday night. Detectives said his home had been ransacked.
An autopsy showed Kessler died from a gunshot wound.
Although Indiana State Police said they have received several tips and are following up on leads, they are still interested in speaking with anyone in the area of his residence off State Road 234 east of Ladoga.
Sgt. Joe Watts is asking you to recollect your memories from that night because no tip is too small.
"It's been nearly a week now and investigation is ongoing. Detectives are working nearly around the clock on all the tips that are coming in. On a positive note, we do have a lot of tips coming in. We just don't have that one tip that puts us at the door of the suspect," said Sgt. Watts.
Troopers are looking for information on a dark-colored, full-size pickup truck that may have been in Kessler's driveway during the early to mid-evening hours on Saturday.
If you have any information on the crime, you're asked to call Indiana State Police at (765) 567-2125.
