WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Three teenagers were taken into custody early Wednesday morning after investigators said they mugged a man in West Lafayette.

The teens were located by West Lafayette police officers on the John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge. Officers said just minutes earlier, the trio robbed a 21-year-old man of his money and phone near the intersection of Columbia and North River Road.

The three then ran off and the victim called 911 at 12:03 a.m.

Sgt. Art Choate with the West Lafayette Police Department said the stolen items were found on the juveniles and the victim was able to make a positive identification of all three.

"He felt threatened enough that he need to give something over so he didn't get hurt or something like that," said Sgt. Choate.

At this time, investigators believe the robbery is an isolated incident.

Sgt. Choate recommends if you find yourself in a similar situation, do what this victim did: remain calm, comply with the robber's demands and contact police as soon as you can.

The three male suspects were taken to the juvenile detention facility. They are facing a felony charge of Strong Armed Robbery and a misdemeanor charge of Possession of A Synthetic Cannabinoid.
