WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Indiana State Police stopped a car for a traffic violation this week and got a whole lot more than expected.
At roughly 10 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 24 just east of Monticello, Ind., a state police trooper stopped a sedan that had been speeding.
After talking with the two men inside the car, the trooper requested assistance from Monticello Police Department’s K-9 officer. The officer and his K-9 partner walked around the car and found it suspicious enough to warrant a search.
That search, according to Indiana State Police, turned up roughly 3 pounds of suspected marijuana and other narcotics yet to be determined.
Both men in the car, 31-year-old Jeremy A. Franklin of Logansport and 28-year-old Edward R. Prince of Logansport, were arrested and taken to White County Jail on charges of dealing in a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Both are Class D felonies.
The investigation is ongoing.
