LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette police responded to a call about shots being fired with a long-barreled weapon at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Sergeant Eric Wallace said several rounds were fired by two people. He said the caller exchanged words with suspects before police arrived.

52-year-old Pamela Williams and 22-year-old Bode Johnson have been placed in custody, facing charges of criminal recklessness. Police say both Williams and Johnson fired three rounds each during the evening.

Sergeant Wallace said they told police they were celebrating the Fourth of July.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Williams posted bond while Johnson remains behind bars.

NewsChannel 18 did contact the Tippecanoe Sheriff's Department, the Purdue Police Department and the West Lafayette Police Department. They tell us they have not issued any warnings or citations at this time.
