WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A coach for the West Lafayette High School robotics team has been arrested on charges of distributing child porn.
Carl Ross Agnew, a 27-year-old from Lafayette, is one of two coaches for the team.
Agnew was charged as a result of a September 2010 investigation by an FBI Special Agent. According to a press release from the US Attorney's office, the agent launched a P2P (peer-to-peer) file sharing program and observed that an individual, later identified as Agnew, was sharing images depicting children engaged in sexual activity.
Agnew was arrested Tuesday and remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal Service.
These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Task Force, and the Kokomo City Police Department. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jill Trumbull-Harris.
The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that a Complaint is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
