LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Two men are sitting behind jail bars after police say they were caught in the act of an armed robbery.
According to Lafayette Police Department (LPD) Sgt. Jay Rosen, Monday morning shortly before 11, LPD was sent to the residence of 2311 Butler St. on a call of an armed robbery in progress.
Officers arrived to find the suspects, John Paul Garrison and Richard Keith Land, still on the scene. They were confronted, and Garrison was arrested immediately. Land ran from the home but was apprehended by officers a short while later, close to the scene.
Police say the investigation showed Garrison broke into the residence and was armed with a padlock on a chain that he was swinging at the victim.
Garrison and the victim did have a physical confrontation, but the victim was not hit with the weapon and sustained no injuries.
Garrison was charged with armed robbery, burglary, residential entry, theft and resisting law enforcement. Land was arrested on conspiracy to commit armed robbery, burglary, residential entry, theft and resisting law enforcement.
