Police investigate wallet theft spree

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - West Lafayette police are investigating five incidents of wallet theft in the Greater Lafayette area.

Police said wallets have been stolen out of purses in grocery stores or restaurants.

All five incidents have occurred since December 30, 2011. The wallets are being taken from women's purses while they are distracted.

The credit cards are being used by the suspects which are described as a black female and black male in their 40's to late 50's, dressed in business attire.

Women are encouraged to keep their purses within eye sight and to be aware of someone attempting to distract them. Do not leave your purse unattended or hanging on a chair behind you, out of view.
