Police investigate shooting death in White County

MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) - A man was shot and killed early Thursday morning in Monticello.

The Monticello Police Department is investigating the shooting, which was reported at 3:18 a.m. Thursday.

Police say officers arrived at the scene on the 600 block of West Washington Street and found a man, identified as 29-year-old Tye A. Rentfrow, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his torso.

Rentfrow was transported to the IU White Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing, involving the Monticello Police Department, White County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police and the White County Coroner’s Office.

There is no word from investigators on whether they have a suspect in mind.
