LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette police say just before noon Tuesday a man drove his car into a parked car on Shasta Drive in Lafayette.
The owner of the parked car was in his house when the crash happened.
When he came to investigate, he says the driver had gotten out of the car and was claiming he had insurance forms at his mother's house around the corner.
The driver walked away down Chinook Lane and never came back.
LPD Officer Mark Roberts says while the driver does face a criminal charge, police are mostly concerned with his safety.
“We would like to find him because, reportedly, he had a busted mouth, (and) some injuries to his teeth,” Roberts said. “We would like to check and make sure he's OK, but we've checked addresses in the area and can't seem to find anyone that matches the description.”
Roberts says drugs and alcohol aren't a factor at this time, but that could change as the crash is still under investigation.
