MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Police continue to investigate 94-year-old Samuel Kessler's death and are releasing more information about the case to the public. They are asking local residents for help.
Investigators said they believe the time of Kessler's death took place sometime between 7:00 p.m. and midnight on Saturday, January 28.
Police are looking for information on a dark-colored, full-size pickup truck, allegedly seen in the victim's driveway during the early to mid-evening hours of Saturday, January 28.
Ladoga area residents, who were in the area of East State Road 234 or in or around the town of Ladoga, are asked to remember their Saturday evening activities and try to remember any suspicious people, vehicles, or "anything out of the ordinary".
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Indiana State Police First Sergeant Tom McKee or Detective Jay Harper at the Lafayette State Police Post at 765-567-2125. No tip is too small.
Police said Samuel H. Kessler was found dead in his home Sunday morning, at 8737 East State Road 234, near Ladoga.
Kessler is believed to be a former Montgomery County Commissioner, State Police Sgt. Joe Watts said.
A business acquaintance of Mr. Kessler's was unable to reach him, and stopped by the home to check on him. The man found Kessler dead in his bedroom, with a wound to his body.
Police said the house was ransacked, but it's unclear whether anything was taken.
