KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) - Police said a bus driver, who was driving while intoxicated, was arrested Saturday morning in Kokomo after she was driving erratically with a bus full of people.

Around 9:00 a.m., a Kokomo-Center Schools bus driver was transporting student-athletes and coaches to a sporting event, when a coach suggested she pull over for driving poorly on US 31.

The bus driver, 56-year-old Theresa Mast of Kokomo was taken to a hospital, where doctors determined her blood alcohol level was .20, according to reports.

“Mast was subsequently 'booked' at the Howard County Criminal Justice Center for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, a class "D" felony”, according to police reports.

The student-athletes and coaches were transferred to another bus and made it to their sporting event safely.

No one was injured during this incident and all parents were notified.

Based on the police reports, the employee has been placed on unpaid leave pending a recommendation to the Board of School Trustees for termination.
