HILLSBORO, Ind. (WLFI) - Fountain County Sheriff Bobby Bass said the Old National Bank at 111 N. Water Street in Hillsboro was robbed early this afternoon.
He said police are looking for a white male with a medium build who was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt. Bass said no weapon was displayed at the time of the robbery.
Bass said police are also looking for the suspect's vehicle, which is a silver Chevrolet car with an Illinois license plate.
"The teller was sharp enough that she thought the suspect looked suspicious," Indiana State Police Detective Tom Minnicus said. "She got a description of the vehicle. He entered the bank. He handed the teller a note that said he wanted the cash or someone would get hurt. She obliged and did give the gentlemen the cash. He then exited the bank."
Bass said police in Tilton, Illinois have found a man matching the description of the suspect. Tilton is about 30 miles west of Hillsboro.
Bass said the man was found based on information given of the suspect's vehicle and physical description.
He said investigators are heading to Vermilion County, Illinois to interview the suspect.
Bass said he is not releasing a name until the investigation is concluded.
State police and the Attica Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
