Officials checking payment on ethics complaint

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) - Officials will examine a payment to a law firm handling an ethics complaint against a prosecutor who was removed from a murder case against a former Indiana state trooper.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky., reports (http://cjky.it/SMno0N ) the Floyd County Council agreed this week to consult the State Board of Accounts concerning about $27,000 that was spent defending Prosecutor Keith Henderson.

The Indiana Court of Appeals removed Henderson from the case against David Camm in November after defense lawyers said he improperly made a deal for a book about the case.

Camm faces a third trial in the 2000 slayings of his wife and two children. His two previous convictions were overturned.

The Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission doesn't publicly comment on ethics investigations, but Henderson has publicly acknowledged the complaint.
