PUTNAMVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A Putnamville Correctional officer was arrested for trafficking drugs with an inmate Saturday.
Officials say 20-year-old Andreas Kirby of Crawfordsville faces five felony charges for the incident. Charges include trafficking with an inmate, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Officials say Kirby set off the alarm while walking through a metal detector at work Saturday. A fellow correctional officer conducted another scan and the alarm went off again.
Kirby was interviewed by a police officer. During the interview, Kirby surrendered three packages that were concealed in his groin area.
Kirby has been an employee at the Putnamville Correctional Facility since September 2012.
