WARSAW, Ind. (AP) - A northern Indiana woman faces a felony child neglect charge in the death of an 18-month-old boy at an unlicensed daycare center at her home.

Forty-three-year-old Dana Shell of Warsaw was free on bond Tuesday. Shell's home phone number was unpublished and she couldn't be reached for comment.

Police in the city midway between Fort Wayne and South Bend arrested her Monday in connection with the Aug. 6 death of Peyton Brettell.

Authorities say an autopsy showed Peyton died of asphyxia after he was improperly strapped in a car seat. Investigators say Shell told them she knew there was a problem with the child but didn't immediately respond.

The Journal Gazette and WSBT-TV report authorities say 11 other children were in Shell's home at the time.
