LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Lafayette mother faces a felony charge after police say she waited for more than a day to take her 4-month-old son to the hospital who had a fractured skull.
Detectives said 34-year-old Leona Willis brought her son to the emergency room last December with the injuries. Officers said her story to them changed several times.
Doctors said the multiple skull fractures on both sides of the infant's head are due to physical abuse involving significant force to the head. They added his injures have caused complications including a seizure disorder and feeding difficulties.
Court documents do not reveal how he or her other six children are doing.
She faces a felony charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.
