LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Two people are in custody after Lafayette police discovered a meth lab in the 3000 block of Elk Street.

Officers responded to a call about suspicious activity around 2:00 a.m. and discovered the lab in the backyard of the home. It had just finished cooking. All five people in the residence were evacuated.

20-year-old Adam Martin of Fowler, and 20-year-old Patricia Ziegler of Lafayette have been charged with manufacturing meth. They were taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail.

The Indiana State Police drug team was called in to help dismantle the lab. The Lafayette Fire Department, street crimes unit, and patrol division also responded to call.
