LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Police made an arrest in connection with a stabbing Monday afternoon in Lafayette, then arrested the stabbing victim after he was released from the hospital.

According to Lafayette police, 27-year-old Brian Chapple was stabbed four times in the back around 3 p.m. Monday in a third-floor apartment in the 3000 block of Pheasant Run Drive on the city's south side.

Police said at least four people were in the apartment at the time.

Police arrested 21-year-old Ashley Niccum on preliminary charges of criminal confinement and domestic battery with a deadly weapon.

"We don't have any idea on the motive. We're still doing the investigation," LPD Sgt. Jay Rosen said.

After Chapple was released from Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital, police said he was arrested for a domestic battery incident that happened over the weekend.
