LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A man is in police custody, after police said he stole an old police car while he was under the influence.

Lafayette Police Sergeant Perry Amos said an attendant at the Speedway on Elmwood Avenue called authorities Friday night, after a customer told her someone had driven off with the attendant's car, a former police vehicle.

Police found the car at the Pay Less grocery by the Tippecanoe Mall, where they said it was driven by Paul Brock.

WLFI viewer Billy Foreman sent us video of the scene, using our Report!t feature .

Amos said Brock was not coherent and wasn't cooperating with police. He said Brock was speaking in tongues, and even threatened to eat a police dog. When Brock started to move toward the officers, he was bitten by the police K-9 on his left calf.

Brock was arrested for auto theft and operating while intoxicated, Amos said. Police later learned there was a warrant for Brock's arrest for escape from the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Coincidentally, a DOC employee from the apprehension unit was at the hospital where Brock was treated for the dog bite, and was able to serve the warrant for his arrest.
