CUTLER, Ind. (WLFI) - A Cutler man is in police custody, for allegedly battering a woman and leaving her with possible hearing loss.

According to Indiana State Police, 45-year-old Kerry Weigand was arrested Sunday afternoon on preliminary charges of aggravated battery and two counts of confinement resulting in bodily injury, all felonies.

Troopers said they were called to Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette Saturday afternoon, where a 44-year-old woman was being treated for injuries she received Friday evening. She told state police she had to wait until Weigand went to work Saturday to get treated for her injuries.

The woman was battered around the head and had two ruptured ear drums which may have resulted in hearing loss in one of the ears.

A trooper said Weigand confessed to the battery. Weigand is being held in the Carroll County Jail on $50,000 bond.
