LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette police have arrested a man following a late-night armed robbery at a local liquor store.

Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, police officers were called to the Tower Liquor store on South Creasy Lane. Inside the store, a clerk had been hit with a weapon during the incident. The clerk was taken to a local hospital for minor bruises.

Police said the suspect had left on foot. He was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A K-9 officer tracked the suspect to a home on Julia Lane. The Lafayette police SWAT team was called in to serve a search warrant.

Inside the home they found Emmanuel Winters along with three children. Winters was arrested for robbery while armed with a deadly weapon. The children were not harmed during the incident. They were placed in the care of family members.

Police continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information should contact the Lafayette Police Department (LPD) at (765) 807-1200 or the anonymous WE TIP hotline at 1(800) 78-CRIME.
