Lafayette man charged with child porn

Federal agents arrest William Geiger

LAFAYETTE, Ind (WLFI) - A Lafayette man is facing federal child pornography charges stemming from an investigation that began several months ago.

William Geiger, 25, is accused of possessing child pornography.

Lafayette Police Detective Matt Devine said the investigation began with a local not-for-profit organization contacted the department. The organization suspected a computer that a former employee had been using contained illegal materials. Devine said Detective Paul Huff did an computer forensic examination and found child pornography on the computer.

Police said said Geiger was arrested in Kosciusko County by special agents from ICE, Immigration Customs Enforcement, and was visiting a friend in that area at the time of his arrest.

Police also said Geiger was unemployed at the time of his arrest.

Police would not identify the not-for-profit organization where Geiger worked.
