LAFAYETTE, Ind (WLFI) - A federal judge sentenced a Lafayette man to 15 and a half years in prison for robbing a Lafayette bank.
Jorge Quintero, 40, pleaded guilty to armed robbery in U.S. District Court in Hammond. He was sentenced by a federal judge Wednesday to 190 months in prison. Tippecanoe County Prosecutor Pat Harrington said Quintero has two other aliases including Samuel Munoz.
Court documents said Quintero entered the Fifth Third Bank on State Road 26 east in Lafayette in March 2008. A gun was fired into the ceiling of the bank. Nearly $23,000 was stolen. Quintero and his ex-wife, Claudia Andrade, of Delphi, were arrested after a high speed chase and a couple of accidents on U.S. 52.
A federal jury convicted Andrade of being in the United States illegally and for aiding and abetting in the robbery. Court records show the woman had 11 different identities, which she fraudulently obtained from the Indiana BMV. She faces up to 20 years in prison when she is sentenced on Monday.
