LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The City of Lafayette plans to announce its new chief of police at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17.
Mayor Tony Roswarski (D) is scheduled to hold a news conference at City Hall in the Council Chambers.
The mayor's pick for the city's top officer will take over the job currently held by Don Roush.
Chief Roush announced his retirement from law enforcement earlier in the month.
Roush will be taking a position at Purdue University. His new job begins Nov. 1.
Roush told News 18 after his announcement that he plans to sit down with the new chief in an effort to make the transition as smooth as possible.
