JASPER CO., Ind. (WLFI) - Indiana State Police are investigating the death of a battered woman in Jasper County.
State troopers responded to a call at about 4:30 Thursday morning on Interstate 65 at mile marker 211, about four miles south of the Morocco-Rensselaer exit.
Authorities found Rachael Woods, 20, of South Bend unresponsive and with life-threatening injuries, believed to be caused by battery.
She was airlifted to St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis where she died later Thursday.
The car she was riding in was from Chicago and heading to Indianapolis, but it's not known where she was injured.
Troopers said one of the occupants, Nathan Huey-Dingle, 30, of Chicago, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
The Jasper County prosecutor is not releasing any names but said a suspect is in custody and charges are possible.
The investigation is ongoing.
