TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A stabbing investigation continues this week after the victim came forward with a new statement.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office says the original incident happened Friday morning in the 800 block of Candlelight Plaza in West Lafayette.

Deputies say when they got to the scene, several people were trying to leave the area in a minivan driven by 21-year- old Breana Cannon.

One of the passengers of the van, 19-year-old Demetrie Russell, had a stab wound to the chest.

Deputies say Cannon and Russell had been arguing.

At some point during the altercation Russell got a stab wound he originally said was self-inflicted.

Detectives say that this weekend, Russell came forth with another statement with more information about the incident.

Deputies would not tell us what the new information was.

They are now investigating and hope to have some answers by the end of the week.
