INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A veteran IMPD officer is facing multiple charges stemming from an attack on his wife and threats to their neighbors who intervened, according to court documents.

John Haggard, 40, was arrested on Christmas Eve , a day after the altercation allegedly took place. He faces 17 charges, including criminal confinement, intimidation, criminal recklessness and battery.

According to court documents, the incident started as an argument between Haggard and his wife, but then escalated to Haggard threatening his neighbor, Chad Dixon, also an IMPD officer, with a gun, demanding access to Haggard's wife and infant son, who had sought refuge in the Dixons’ home.

The Dixons’ young children were in close proximity when Haggard pulled his gun inside the Dixons’ home, according to court documents.

Haggard has an initial hearing set for Friday morning.
