FRANKFORT, Ind (WLFI) -
Frankfort HIgh School stepped up security measures
Friday after finding threatening messages on a restroom wall.
Superintendent Tony Rose said the threat was directed at
faculty members. The threatening message was found scribbled on a
restroom wall. "The threat was directed at unnamed faculty
members," said Rose. "Both staff and students are likely to be
inconvenienced by measures that will be taken to insure the safety
of all. School officials have asked students and staff to tolerate
the temporary inconveniences."
Additional police officers are at Frankfort High School and the campus is closed, which means students cannot leave for lunch. "There is also no hall passes," said Rose.
A letter is being sent to parents asking their support in helping students understand that such measures must be taken for their own good
Rose said, "There is nothing new about finding threatening messages written in public places. Fortunately, most of those threats are false. Unfortunately, no one can tell the difference between real and false threats. Therefore, every threat has to be considered real and real precautions must be taken. Taking appropriate precautions will allow high school classes to go on as scheduled through the afternoon of December 18 when the holiday break will begin."
A similar incident occurred last spring at the high school.
School officials and the Frankfort Police Department responded. The
threat was not carried out.
