Escaped inmate caught at Tippecanoe Mall in Lafayette

Jacob Aflleje, 31, held without bond

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A burglar apprehended at the Tippecanoe Mall Monday night turns out to be an escaped inmate from the Edinburgh Correctional Facility.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, 31-year-old Jacob Aflleje was found leaving out the back door of Macy's around 10:30 p.m.

Police later discovered there was a warrant out for his escape. Aflleje was arrested and charged with false informing, burglary, attempted theft, and possession of stolen property.

He is being held without bond this morning at the Tippecanoe County Jail.
