INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An undercover police officer caught a Marion County public defender trying to exchange legal services for sex, according to court documents.
Christopher Hollander, 36, was charged with a Class A misdemeanor of patronizing a prostitute after the events in early December.
An undercover officer received a text message from Hollander on a phone that had previously belonged to a prostitute, according to a probable cause affidavit. Hollander said he was trying to reach a woman because he thought he could help her. He later admitted to police he saw her on a website often used to find prostitutes, and then saw her name on court records for an arrest. Her case wasn't assigned to him, so he reached out on an alternate phone.
In a meeting an undercover officer setup with Hollander in a hotel room, Hollander indirectly offered to represent the woman as an attorney in exchange for sex. He later admitted to a police officer that he did intend to exchange his legal services for sex acts, according to court documents.
Hollander asked an officer to write him something similar to a ticket instead of arresting him because he said he’d lose his job and license to practice law, according to court documents. He also admitted he uses a different phone number in order to cheat on his girlfriend and discretely contact people.
Hollander was released from jail on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court in February.
