WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A single-vehicle crash shut down a major thoroughfare through West Lafayette early Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Kevin Flynn with the West Lafayette Police Department said the crash happened around 2:40 a.m. in front of Hunter's Pub on Sagamore Parkway. He said the driver somehow lost control of his vehicle while traveling north on Sagamore. The car ended up traveling onto the sidewalk, taking down a construction sign in the process. Next the car struck a tree and then crashed into a light pole, knocking it over.
The driver, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police are looking into whether alcohol and/or drugs were involved.
The investigation continues. Northbound Sagamore Parkway (U.S. 52) was closed while crews worked to clean up the crash. The roadway has since been re-opened.
