TIPTON, Ind. (WISH) - Burglars took presents under a family’s Christmas tree and other gifts intended to be donated to a family in need, Tipton County Sheriff’s Department officials said Wednesday.
Two homes were targeted by the burglars Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
In addition to the gifts, other valuable items were taken from the homes. One of the homes was about a mile southwest of Tipton, and the other was in southwestern Tipton County.
Homeowners in the area told police that around the same time they had a woman knock on their door asking for directions to Kokomo. That woman is described as being 30-35 years old, white, about 5-foot-3 with long dark hair and a heavy build. She left in a dark green Jeep Cherokee driven by a white man around the same age.
Anyone who encountered the people in the Jeep or with information about the burglaries is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 765-675-7004.
