WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Police say the infant who was sent to an Indianapolis hospital after getting hit by his father is doing a bit better.
This past Sunday, West Lafayette police responded to a call of an injured 17-day-old infant.
The baby’s father, 18-year-old Brendan Bell, admitted to getting frustrated and striking the baby.
The young baby boy was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis and was in critical condition up until Tuesday.
WLPD detectives met with the infant’s doctor, who says the baby’s condition is improving. He is out of the Intensive Care Unit and is stable.
A full body scan of the baby was taken, which revealed multiple skull fractures and internal bleeding within the skull, both of which are consistent with blunt-force trauma.
The case will now be passed on to the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office.
