LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Police are on a search for the man who robbed a Lafayette bank Friday morning by presenting a threatening note.

The Regions Bank at the corner of Union Street and Earl Avenue (3123 Union St.) sent in a report of a robbery Friday morning around 11:30.

Lafayette police crews responded, and the bank is temporarily closed.

Lt. Brad Hayworth of the Lafayette Police Department says the man who robbed the bank was a black male who is roughly 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall. He weighs between 180 and 200 pounds and was wearing a winter hat, white shirt, gray pants and black gloves.

Lt. Hayworth said the man presented a note to the teller advising the bank was being robbed. No weapon was displayed and the suspect left the area southbound on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was injured over the course of the robbery.

LPD is asking anyone with information on this man, or any businesses that see the style of hat seen in the photos, to contact the police department at 765-807-1200. You can also use the We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME.
