LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) -
Authorities are investigating four early morning robberies between Sunday and Monday mornings. At least two of the incidents are believed to be connected.

The first robbery occurred in West Lafayette at the Citgo gas station on West State Street around 1:00 a.m. Sunday. According to the West Lafayette Police Department (WLPD), two men entered the Citgo, displaying a weapon and demanding money.

Investigators said the two men, described as one heavyset black male and a tall, thin black male wearing dark sweatshirts. The suspects got away with an unknown amount of money.

Anyone with information on this incident should contact WLPD at (765)775-5200 or the anonymous WE-TIP hotline at 1(800)78-CRIME.

Early Monday morning, at approximately 2:06 a.m., a robbery was reported at the Speedway Gas Station at 4325 State Road 26 East.

The clerk told Lafayette police three black males entered the store. One of them allegedly displayed a handgun.

The clerk was not hurt during the incident; however, the suspects got away with an unknown amount of cash, according to Sgt. Brian Phillips. Sgt. Phillips said it's believed the suspects got away in a vehicle.

Two of the suspects were described as wearing dark clothing. The one suspect who displayed the handgun is described as being a heavy set black male, approximately 6 feet tall and wearing a white zip-up sweat shirt.

Anyone with information regarding this robbery is encouraged to contact the Lafayette Police Department at (765)807-1200, or the WE-TIP Hotline at 1(800)782-7463.

One hour later, around 3:00 a.m. Monday, another robbery occurred at a gas station in Boone County.

The Whitestown Police Department believes those same suspects who robbed the gas station in Lafayette then robbed the Circle 'K' on State Road 334. Deputies said the men showed a weapon but did not make off with any money.

In both cases, the men fled the area. They are on the lookout for the getaway vehicle, which is possibly a black Pontiac Grand Am.

Officers said they do have a good lead on just who these robbers are, thanks to surveillance.

"We do have surveillance video in all the different stores and we are looking, like I said, to identify all the suspects involved," said Jeff Webb, Lafayette police officer.

Anyone with information on this robbery should contact the Whitestown Police Department at (765) 482-1412 or the WE-TIP hotline at 1(800)78-CRIME.
