TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) - A Lafayette man who pleaded guilty in last year's murder of Jeremy Gibson now wants to withdraw his guilty plea.
In a handwritten letter from jail, Darren Englert claims he was not in sound mind when he entered his plea in March.
Englert's motion to withdraw his guilty plea was filed with the court Sept. 10.
He's also asked his attorneys to file a motion to suppress his guilty plea the next time he appears in court.
Englert has a hearing set for next Sept. 27.
Gibson was 26 years old when he was killed in July 2011.
Gibson's girlfriend at the time, CarolAnn Clear, has also pleaded guilty and is set to be sentenced Nov. 29.
A third accused murderer, Antonio Williams, died in jail in January.
