LAFAYETTE, Ind (WLFI) - A Lafayette man fought with court bailiffs after he was sentenced for his role in a string of home invasions. 22-year-old Sylvario Wilson pleaded guilty to Robbery while Armed with a Deadly Weapon and Attempted Robbery While Armed with a Deadly Weapon. He was handed an 18 year in prison term. He was ordered to serve two years on Community Corrections and four years on probation following his arrest.

Prosecutor Pat Harrington said after the sentencing hearing, Wilson got upset because he wanted to say goodbye to his family, but was immediately taken into custody. He said four Lafayette police detectives help bailiffs secure Wilson.

Harrington said Wilson was among five men charged with the home invasions in March and April, where residents were tied up and items were stolen.
